Procedure Description With Bicep Implants, very soft, but solid silicone implants are placed under the arm covering of the bicep muscle and the tricep muscle through short incisions beneath the arm. Many times the implants are placed at the same time as the pectoral augmentation and use the same incision in the armpit.
Length of the Procedure The Bicep Implant surgery takes 1-and-one-half to 2 hours.
Anesthesia The implant surgery is performed under general anesthesia.
Inpatient or Outpatient? Bicep Implant surgery is performed on an outpatient basis.
Recovery During the Bicep Implant recovery period, the patient is instructed not to lift their arms for two days. Dressings are then removed, followed by a gentle exercise program within 1 to 2 weeks to enable a full and comfortable range of motion of the arms. Generally within a week or two, physical use of the upper body muscles may be resumed and within one month, full muscular activity may be resumed.
Duration of Results Bicep Implant results are typically permanent.
