Buttock Lift

About The Procedure
The excess, droopy skin in the buttocks is a great candidate for a Buttock Lift. This procedure can also get rid of severe cellulite in that region.

Procedure Description
During the Buttock Lift procedure, incisions are made underneath the buttock area, where they won't be noticeable. Then, the plastic surgeon removes whatever is hanging - excess skin and fat. To improve the buttocks' overall look, liposuction may also be performed.

Best Candidates for Buttock Lift Surgery
Buttock Lift candidates must be in good health, have no active diseases or serious, pre-existing medical conditions, and must have realistic expectations of the outcome of the surgery. The excess, droopy skin in the buttocks is a great candidate for a Buttock Lift or Gluteal Lift. This procedure can also get rid of severe cellulite in that region, too.

Length of the Procedure
Expect 2 to 3 hours, depending on the extent of the Buttock Lift procedure.

Anesthesia
A Buttock Lift is typically performed under general anesthesia.

Inpatient or Outpatient?
A Buttock Lift is typically performed on an outpatient basis.

Possible Side Effects
Common side effects associated with Buttock Lift surgery include bruising, pain, and numbness all of which usually resolve within several months. Scars will soften over time.

Recovery
After Buttock Lift surgery, the main obstacle to healing and recovery is not being able to sit. But gradually, as the incisions heal, the patient can resume normal activity, including sitting down.

Duration of Results
Buttock Lift results vary but usually permanent unless extreme weight or skin changes.

Risks
Although complications are rare, the main ones associated with Buttock Lift surgery are bleeding, infection, and persistent fluid collections. At times, a touch-up is needed to repair any problems with the incision - as might happen, for example, when you sit on your incision or stretch it.

Cost
Expect to pay $3,000 to $5,000 for Buttock Lift surgery.

Scars
Scars after Buttock Lift surgery will soften over time.
